Basic 1 - For
the beginner who has never skated (Children & Adults)
- Sit on ice and stand up;
- March forward across the ice;
- Forward two-foot glide;
- Dip;
- Forward swizzles: 6 - 8 in a row;
- Backward wiggles: 6 - 8 in a row;
- Snowplow stop: one or both feet;
- Rocking horse: 2 - 3 in a row;
- Two-foot hop in place (optional).

Basic 2
- Forward one-foot glides: R & L;
- Backward two-foot glide;
- Backward swizzles: 6 - 8 in a row;
- Two-foot turn, from forward to
backward, in place;
- Moving snowplow stop: one or both feet,
hold;
- Forward alternating 1/2 swizzle pumps
in a line.

Basic 3
- Forward stroking (no toe pushes);
- Forward 1/2 swizzle pumps on a circle:
6 - 8 both directions;
- Moving forward to backward two-foot
turn: R & L;
- Backward one-foot glides: R & L;
- Forward slalom;
- Two-foot spin: up to 2 revolutions.

Basic 4
- Forward outside edge on a circle: R &
L;
- Forward inside edge on a circle: R & L;
- Forward crossovers: both directions;
- Forward outside 3-turn from a
standstill position: R & L;
- Backward 1/2 swizzle pumps on a circle;
both directions;
- Backward stroking;
- Backward snowplow stop: R & L.

Basic 5
- Backward outside edge on a circle: R &
L;
- Backward inside edge on a circle: R &
L;
- Backward crossovers: both directions;
- Beginning one-foot spin: up to 3
revolutions;
- Hockey stop;
- Toe hop: both directions.

Basic 6
- Forward inside 3-turn from a
standstill: R & L;
- Moving backward to forward two-foot
turn on a circle: both directions;
- T stop: R & L;
- Bunny hop;
- Forward spiral on a straight line: R or
L;
- Forward lunge: R or L.

Basic 7
- Forward inside mohawk from a
standstill: R & L;
- Backward outside edge to forward
outside edge on a circle: R & L;
- Ballet jump: R or L;
- Backward crossovers to backward to
backward outside edge glide: landing clockwise & counter-clockwise;
- Forward inside pivots: R or L.

Basic 8
- Moving forward outside 3-turn on a
circle: R & L;
- Moving forward inside 3-turn on a
circle: R & L;
- Forward crossovers (2) into forward
inside mohawk, cross behind, step into backward crossover (1) and step
to forward inside edge: 3, clockwise & counter-clockwise;
- One-foot upright spin: optional entry &
free foot position;
- Waltz jump;
- Mazurka: R or L.
