The dream of Jim and Dorothy Stephens, Highland Ice Arena opened it's doors to
the public in December of 1962. Since those first days many guests have passed through our
doors.
Our arena provided many firsts for its guests; a large supply of high quality
rental skates kept in the largest heated lobby in the Northwest, full rubber flooring in
the lobby, glass windows for viewing both inside and out and the first Zamboni in the
Northwest. In continuing with our many firsts we are also the first arena in the Northwest
with a computer controlled air-quality management system. This system is monitored
continuously and supplies fresh, dry, pre-warmed air for the comfort of our guests.
Also for the comfort and enjoyment of our guests we have rental skates in a
wide range of sizes from tiny tot (size 6) through adult (size 15), shadow-free lighting, a
state-of-the-art sound system, and an up-to-date video arcade.
Jim Stephens dream was "I always wanted my own place to teach ice
skating." Welcome to his dream, and welcome to our
43rd year of skating enjoyment
here at Highland Ice Arena.
